Advocacy 101: Strength in Partnership, Power in Advocacy

Nurses are among the most trusted professionals in healthcare, bringing invaluable expertise and firsthand experience to discussions that shape patient care and health policy. Yet many nurses are unsure of how to engage in the legislative process or advocate effectively for the profession. To help bridge that gap, ANA-Michigan, the Michigan Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), and the Michigan Organization for Nursing Leadership (MONL) are partnering to present a webinar, Advocacy 101: Strength in Partnership, Power in Advocacy on Thursday, September 10th from 8 – 10 a.m.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the legislative process, learn about key healthcare policy issues impacting Michigan, and discover practical strategies for engaging with lawmakers.

By working together across nursing organizations, nurses can amplify their voices and help shape the future of healthcare in Michigan.

Attendance is free, but registration is required to receive Zoom information.

Contact Hours: 1.5 Contact Hour will be awarded to attendees who:

Enter the session no more than 5 minutes after the start at 8:00 a.m., and remain through the conclusion.
Complete an online evaluation identifying at least one legislative priority you will advocate for and one way that you plan to connect with a lawmaker.

No one with the ability to control content has any relevant financial relationship with an ineligible company.

American Nurses Association-Michigan is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

The U-M School of Nursing Healthcare Innovation Impact Program (HiiP), is hosting its fourth annual Innovation Conference on Monday, October 26, 2026. This year’s theme is: “Nursing Voices: Innovating the Future of Healthcare Together”. The conference promises to be educational and inspirational. Call for Posters

Have you completed a quality improvement initiative, research study, evidence-based practice project, educational innovation, or leadership initiative that could benefit nursing colleagues? Consider sharing your work through a poster presentation at the MONL 2026 Fall Conference on Friday, November 20, 2026.

The conference welcomes poster submissions from:

Undergraduate (ADN/BSN) students
Graduate (MSN/Master's) students
Doctoral (DNP, PhD, EdD) students
Faculty
Community members and other healthcare professionals

Poster submissions require:

A poster title
An abstract (maximum 300 words)
Three to five keywords
A brief statement describing the project's relevance to practice, education, or leadership
Confirmation of co-author contributions and originality of the work

Abstract Submission Deadline: September 30, 2026.

Whether your project highlights research findings, innovative teaching strategies, leadership initiatives, simulation, quality improvement, or evidence-based practice, this is an excellent opportunity to disseminate your work, receive feedback from colleagues, and contribute to advancing nursing practice and education. Poster presenters will be notified by email to primary presenter no later than October 15, 2026.

We encourage faculty, students, and healthcare professionals from across Michigan to submit an abstract and share their work at the MONL 2026 Fall Conference.
